Central Coast Watercolour Society April News

Coming up in April the CCWS has the general meeting this Wednesday the 11th from 9.30 am to 12.00pm in the Community Centre, The Entrance.  This month’s meeting features a demonstration by Jocelyn Maughan – distinguished, well known, central coast artist – on the subject of Drawing.  Bring along your notebooks as Jocelyn is bound to share some interesting facets of drawing.  Also at this month’s meeting our Painting Challenge is “Mineral”, so there will be heaps of subjects that can fit that criteria ie  a solid, naturally occurring, inorganic substance.  Anything not animal or vegetable.  Get the paint brushes and the brain cells working!

Earl Hingston will be giving a two day workshop on the 14th & 15th of this month.  Earl is focussing on landscapes, old buildings and perhaps boats.  Places still available – click here for workshop forms Workshop Booking Form.

Easter Showcase Watercolour Exhibition

art exhibition

The Central Coast Watercolour Society Easter Showcase Exhibition is proving very popular over the holiday period.  Six framed paintings have already been sold, with quite a few unframed paintings and cards going to new homes as well!  The exhibition continues daily from 10am to 4pm daily until the 11th April, at the Gosford Regional Art Gallery, Webb St, East Gosford.  The exhibition is free and we have a major raffle prize of a painting (pictured above) which has been donated by our feature artist – Lorraine Best.

Lorraine Best – Feature Artist at the Easter Showcase Exhibition

art exhibition, Uncategorized

The Central Coast Watercolour Society’s Easter Showcase Exhibition will be held at The Community Gallery, Gosford Regional Art Gallery, Webb Street, East Gosford with the wonderful paintings of our local artists for sale.

Running daily from 10 am to 4 pm from Thursday 29th March to Wednesday 11th April 2018 (closed Good Friday). The featured artist for the exhibition is the society’s own Lorraine Best.

Lorraine was inspired to paint at an early age because of her father’s interest in art.
Over the years, during formal education days and during the years of motherhood, she attended art classes in Sydney and Melbourne.
Inspiration comes from the Australian landscape and her daily experiences.
She loves to work with other artists, exchanging inspiration and motivation with them, as well as their friendship.

Lorraine’s first art award was gained in 1983 at the Geelong Art Show. She has won many awards since, including the Hornsby Art Award on two occasions. These paintings now form part of the Hornsby Shire Council art collection.
Lorraine is continuing to develop her artistic styles and is now exploring the potentials of yupo paper, a synthetic paper, waterproof, stain-resistant, and extremely strong and durable.
Lorraine has paintings in private collections, both in Australia and overseas.
