  • At our next meeting on June 13th, Joy Whitaker, one of our newer members will be giving a presentation on binding books for travel sketching and painting. She will demonstrate how they are made and will have some for members to purchase. It will be a very interesting lesson about book binding. You may like to see how to make your own and make a diary of your own work.

  • The Painting Challenge for the June meeting is “Fantasy”, that should invoke some interesting paintings!

  • Mignon Parker will be holding a two day workshop on 16th & 17th June – click here for more details about Mignon and her workshop, plus enrolment forms:  Workshops

Grandma Moses Art Competition and Exhibition 35th Anniversary Video

art exhibition

In 2017 the Gosford 50+ Leisure & Learning Centre celebrated 35 years of running the Grandma Moses Art Competition & Exhibition. To commemorate the milestone a 35th Anniversary video was produced and launched at the 2018 Seniors Festival Grandma Moses Selected Artist Exhibition held on 6 April 2018 at the Erina Centre, Erina. The video captures the essence and history of the event through stories from all those who have been involved, both past and present.

The annual competition is named after American Artist Anna Mary Moses, affectionately known as “Grandma Moses’ who took up painting as a career at the age of 78. She held her first ‘one woman show’ at the age of 80, and painted more than 1,500 pictures in the last 23 years of her life; creating artworks until her death at age 101.
Entrants are asked to submit their artwork into one of five prize sections – Open, Watercolour, Novice, 50+ Centre/Senior Centre Art Group Member and Central Coast Inspired. Entries open in July with the Competition and Exhibition held in the second week of September.
